Personal Story. Public Service. Real Change.

Ayaan Moledina is a 1st-generation American, the son of immigrants, and a Pakistani-American born and raised in Austin, Texas. As a product of Round Rock ISD schools, his campaign is deeply personal.

Ayaan’s commitment to public service was shaped by his own lived experiences as a student, including bullying, racism, and mental health struggles. Those experiences led him to dedicate his work to making sure students have the support, dignity, and opportunities they deserve.

He has worked across advocacy, organizing, and public policy at the local, state, and federal levels, including roles connected to the U.S. House of Representatives, the Texas Legislature, and national youth mental health efforts. He has helped organize campaigns and events with major institutions and worked on issues including suicide prevention, student wellbeing, civic engagement, racial justice, and gun violence prevention.

Closer to home, Ayaan has long been involved in Round Rock ISD through district and campus engagement, mentoring, PTA support, and work to elevate student voices. He is running for the RRISD Board of Trustees to protect public schools, support students and educators, and ensure district leadership reflects the community it serves.

When elected Ayaan will become the first South Asian elected to the RRISD Board of Trustees.

Meet Ayaan Moledina

Ayaan Moledina BIOGRAPHY

Ayaan Moledina (he/him) is a 1st-generation American, the son of immigrants, and a Pakistani-American who has been born and raised in Austin, Texas. He is a product of Spicewood Elementary School and Canyon Vista Middle School in Round Rock ISD.

Given Ayaan's lived experiences with mental health, he is passionate about providing resources to struggling youth and expanding suicide prevention resources for students across the country. He believes youth have the power to bring people together, and he strives to help unite decision-makers, advocates, and citizens around important issues affecting youth.

Ayaan has served in various roles, including at the U.S. House of Representatives and the Texas Legislature. He has worked on organizing advocacy campaigns and awareness events in partnership with various institutions, such as The White House, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and the U.S. Department of Education, featuring leaders like President Biden and Vice President Harris. In 2023 and 2024, Ayaan was the lead organizer of The White House Adolescent Suicide Prevention Roundtable featuring students, experts, parents, and survivors, along with leaders of the President’s Domestic Policy Council.

Ayaan has been honored by organizations such as the National Alliance on Mental Illness of Texas, Texas American Federation of Teachers (AFT), Texas Gun Sense, The Westly Foundation, and The Congressional Award Foundation. He has spoken at dozens of conferences and events, including those organized by organizations like the National Association of School Nurses, the Mexican American School Board Association, the 60 Hour Vigil for Medicaid on the National Mall, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, SXSW, and many more. He has guest lectured in classes at Harvard Law School and the College of William and Mary.

Having been involved in policy and legislation for seven years, Ayaan currently serves as the Federal Policy Director for a nonprofit organization that works to get students to share their stories and advocate through the policymaking process. He spearheads local action, grassroots organizing efforts, and state and federal legislation touching issues ranging from mental health, suicide prevention, and youth civic engagement to education, racial justice, and gun violence prevention. He also helps lead youth-related outreach and organizing for Brady: United Against Gun Violence, the nation's oldest and largest gun violence prevention organization.

Over the past many years, Ayaan has worked on several campaigns in the Austin area including for Congressman Greg Casar, Travis County Tax Assessor-Collector Celia Israel, Councilmember Krista Laine, Councilmember Zohaib Qadri, Representative James Talarico, and many more. Additionally, he played an instrumental role in the crucial 2022 RRISD school board election by campaigning for Tiffanie Harrison, among other candidates like Amy Weir, Chuy Zaraté, and Alicia Markum. He worked alongside Access Education RRISD to protect our public schools against the threat of white christian nationalism and far right attacks.

Ayaan has been involved in RRISD for many years, serving on the district’s School Health Advisory Council (SHAC), being a district mentor, and being on the board of the C.D. Fulkes Middle School PTA, helping organize fundraising efforts to support student activities. He has also worked to increase diverse student perspectives by getting middle school students added to the VOICE program.

Ayaan brings his lived experiences as someone who has been through RRISD schools, experienced traumatic bullying, racism, and intense mental health struggles along with suicide attempts, and seeks to channel these hurdles into policies that can ensure no other child has to struggle like he did. He is the only progressive candidate in this race and when elected, will be the first South Asian ever elected to the RRISD Board of Trustees,

In a district of approximately 47,000 students and 59 campuses, with 22% of the student body being Asian, Ayaan’s voice is needed now more than ever. Ayaan works on a daily basis on the frontline against school vouchers, bible-infused curriculum, and attacks on DEI. He knows the impacts of the federal and state actions on our district. In a time where the district is first to see the impact of those negative and harmful actions, we need someone who has hands-on experience fighting this oppression at all levels of government.

No one will fight for our children more than Ayaan - this is personal to him; he’s not in it for fame, power, or glory. He’s in it because he knows what it’s like to be underestimated, undersupported, and pushed to the sidelines. Now is the time to say no more - we will no longer be silenced. If we aren’t at the decision making table, we’re on the menu. In the words of legendary Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm, “If they don’t give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair.” Onwards to victory!
